AR 9.70mm (Thickness 1.54mm), weight 0.67g, die axis = 12h (0 degrees), 1/16 Shekel.

Obverse: Galley left with oars and row of shields; below waves, date above (regnal year 9), cable border.

Reverse: Mazday/Mazaios (Persian King) wearing crenellated crown right, (seizing Lions forelock with left hand, and holding dagger in right) slaying lion standing before him on hind legs, Aramaic letters zain (Z) & mim (M) between, Square incuse.


Ref: HGC10 Pg.74. No.265 (Sidon – year 9 dated 345-344 B.C). Betlyon states that Mazday ruled in Sidon 362-358 B.C and again between 347-341 B.C.
